A Little RoleplayThere was something deeply terrifying about the forest at night. In the darkness, every single sound seemed to inflict fear at a primal level. There was no knowing what lay just five feet beyond her sight, what monster or what beast was creeping in the shadows. It was why they had chosen a night during the new moon. Objectively and rationally, Melinda knew she was safe, but her mind was neither of those. It was the same thrill as a horror movie, designed to be terrifying but without danger—and it was damn effective.
Maryanne had been patient, lurking in the shadows with absolute silence, waiting for the fear to set in.
